Narnia Project---Non- knitting Work in Process
Sometimes I wonder if I've lost my mind. (OK- so MOST of the time- I wonder...)

I "get these ideas" and then MUST carry them out. Regardless. (Ummmmm... honestly- sometimes- regardless of whom I have to kill to do it.)

Case in point:

Narnia Project for Metrokids at www.metrosouthchurch.com

The Children @ Metrokids are AWESOME- and I'm hugely looking forward to providing them with an "EXPERIENCE" in Narnia. I want them to be excited about coming to church--- and have a great time----I defiantely want to capitalize on a positive media resource- which Narnia will be----

C.S Lewis' writing is always so real- applicable and authentic--- the Spiritual parallel between Narnia- and our world is seamless....It's a breeze to simply "fill in the dotted lines" that CS Lewis has drawn... with age appropriate teaching methodology. Hmmm and FUN. FUN. FUN.

This is a 3 week curriculum- to coincide with the release of Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe--- on December 9th.

Our event- will be December- 4-18. Each Sunday for 3 weeks.

I am a very "Experiential" learner- and hence- am an Experiential Teacher. This project is about IMPACT.

Which means a lot of WORK. I am a pretty high output-(and input) person----but heres my list-----

Narnia To-Do's1) Complete/forward curriculum- handouts etc. All that's left is formatting stuff- ideas are there- just filling in teacher instructions etc....

2) Build an "EXPERIENTIAL" Wardrobe--- one- the kids can WALK thru on their way to class each week----past coats and thru pine trees......(scheduled for Fri- with someone from church....)

3) Finish set design---and create a doc for other teachers to use- for set up their teaching weeks-(completion of "SIMPLE SET " will involve glueing white glitter to miles of white batting!!!!! Hello , sparklin' living room!)

Mostly- keeping set simple- snow scene- movie paraphernalia---- LAMP POST- must get LAMP POST

4) create DVD/complete scripting for teachers to use in teaching- found a 9 minute trailer- awesome- as the most current option is the BBC version I purchased- which is honestly pretty cheesy--- so yahoo for trailers-- I'll MAKE it work!!!!! http://www.narniaweb.com/trailers.asp with almost ALL the scenes I'm focusing on---- would like teachers to storytell- show scene- storytell- show scene- will be MUCH easier if the scenes are pre- edited and titled in between---- which I've not done before---- but am learning to do NOW......

(well at the moment- I'm taking a sanity saving break- hence the post) btw apparently my "word of the day" is HENCE.....sorry not sure why--- just random Kookiness.

5) make a flyer- get movie times- plan movie outing to SEE the movie after it's release date-

6) Confirm Archer for Archery Demo-

7) Build Virtual.....something I can't post- for week 2.

8) Coordinate party supplies-food etc- for week 3.

All the materials I've ordered have arrived- which is great- art project materials....give-away goodies---- (can't tell what....never know who's reading)!

These things are really no problem to accomplish---- THEORETICALLY. Realistically- My DH is out of town--- kids get goofy when he's gone..... I have the stupid FLU.....coughing all night. Noah- the little one has it too. I also am holding a "MOPS International Council Network 'n Nosh" Tomorrow night- I will share a short devotional....(which I need to WRITE) I have a b-day party for a sweety on Saturday......

so---- while this isn't TECHNICALLY a RANT or COMPLAINT... I'm excited to be doing everything I am.....but I need to GET IT ALL DONE!!!!!!

NOW
Yesterday

so. This afternoon- and evening- I'll be "making a movie"... and knitting furiously in between scenes-----------

Nope--- first priority- PRAY,

There is no way I'll survive---- I mean- accomplish what is needed... without prayer this week!

Lord- I trust you to accomplish your will this week and always- help me to prioritize, help me to honor you in my actions and REACTIONS....please give me creativity to communicate your great love to the Metrokidz--- by connecting the dots- between youur sacrifice and that of Aslan...and to my area MOPS leaders thru the devotion on twinkling in Chaos----I mean Christmas) . I love you Lord- and am so glad- just to be--- yours. amen.

The occasional completed projects.....Mitten Knitten!
Well- first update- my SP6 contacted me--- NOT revealing herself yet------but let me know that GOODIES are on their way!!!! Looking forward to it !

Next- thought I'd actually post knitting content--- My goal is to knit what I can for Christmas-----Personally- I think time is the most valuable gift----- time spent together- and thinking of each other--- so when i knit- for someone- I choose something they will (hopefully) like----And as I knit I pray for them. It's really a gift of time and thought- lots of people have plenty of STUFF.....but time--- loving thoughts and prayers? Those are in short supply for most of us. And so--- I bring you- Mitten Knitten-

..... as you can see-

Pretty Chartreuse mits- Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky
Spiderman blue toddler mits- those sare for my boy--- Patons country double stranded
Mittens for my SIL (she doesn't know about my blog in Katia "Mexico" color 5856 kind of Noro-esque? nes'pas?
(she's a redhead- these colors should be great on her!---) also the scarf to the left- is a Knitty.com "Flora" http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTflora.html in process... to match the mittens--- should be done later today. will post pisc when done.

In the background is my MCY - in Yellowstone- Clapotis--- beautiful... warm and toasty- but not as drapey as I would have liked.

How many projects do I have to complete by Christmas????WAY too many--- but this is a pretty good start!

I'm Loving the Kate Gilbert "Gifted" Pattern----- for Mittens- very fast- I LOVE Fast. especially for gifts..... http://www.kategilbert.com/ms_gifted.html its also FREE- and color coded by size- which I like- since I tend to make MULTIPLE of everything----- I forget WHICH size I'm working on!

Also-- those are the "Ugg booties" from DIY for my step brothers baby boy--- (makin mits to match) http://www.diynet.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_3148516,00.html

Welll- and what RHYMES with knitten and mitten? Kitten--- which at 4 "Truffles" is NOT--- but- she IS cute- and she did pose nicely for a change--- so there she is--- my BAD kitty--- "Cappucino" is our Good kitty- but he's sleeping at the moment- he'll show up later!

"Lord- may all you bring me in contact with be blessed with your love---- especially my boys- who are driving me NUTS at the moment."

Secret Pal thoughts......What's up with that?
With Secret Pal 6 http://secretpalsix.blogspot.com/ (you can read here for info) winding down--- ( my spoilees final goodie box ships today)

I thought I'd share a few thoughts---

1) MEN- and or Non knitters- just basically don't get it . "You're sending surprises to someone YOU don't KNOW???? Someone YOU don't KNOW is SENDING YOU surprises.. I don't get it." (DH)

2) This is probably something I would NOT let my teens participate in... it breaks a lot of our "house rules" for internet safety... no talking to people you don't know----and can't verify... NO giving out Personal information..... etc...

3) I will be signing up for SP7. http://secretpalseven.blogspot.com/

Personally- I have enjoyed this HUGELY..... I have recieved great surprises-- and honestly enjoyed Enormously sending pks to my "spoilee"... I am a Present giver--- recently a friend told me I am "Tinkerbell" that I just love making little dreams come true---- I suppose she's right.

It has been fun- to get to know my "spoilee".... watch her blog, learn about preferences--- likes dislikes--- and have the opportunity to "bless" her...we are different in our lives...but yet have a common ground of experiences in fiber--- I have learned much from her----shes a terrific person. I will continue contact- and will continue praying for her- long after SP6 is over.

I suppose- I have also seen this as an opportunity to "minister" which is such a funny word---- that aour culture misunderstands immensley. To minister- simpy put- is to meet needs.

Jesus met people where they were at- and frequently ministered to them- thru meeting their felt- needs. That has been a desire for me- in SP6--- to meet a few needs- desires of someone- to get to know them a bit- and encourage them.......and maybe- just maybe- she'll have experienced a bit of God's love thru that experience.

It's not a PUSH.. There are No strings attached- Others motives may be different- in everything I do---is to bless-for the Lord---- I genuinely care about my SP6----and am thankful for all MY "Spoiler" has done for me---

It has been interesting- to watch--- the SP6 blog--- there have been conflicts---which is sad--- Bottom line for me is----if you make a commitment- it's imperative to keep it. However- things happen- people aren't perfect- and when they don't follow thru- they frequently- "hide" and "avoid" (Well-- I do anyway!)

The whole thing is a bit like a pen pal-- and a bit like a secret sister thing---- and a lot like something God would do and constantly DOES. Taking the opportunity to get to know someone- to develop care for them- and give to them---

In my final package to my SP6--- she'll find a pretty lace scarf that I knit "Branching out"- in a soft alpaca- in a pretty green color I think she'll like) ----along with some pretties... and sweets----and goodies and a note- that tells her- I'm praying that God envelopes her in His love---- and kindness- and that the stitches would remind her of His care for her. And Mine.

Can't wait for SP 7--- it's incredible the diffrences and creativity God uses in designing each of us--- totally unique---- I have enjoyed- getting to know.......well I can't really tell you her name yet--- NOT till she rec's her final PKG!!!! Then I'll post her blog and name!

Shes an artist- though--- and loves fiber--- well--- now, i suppose that FITS everyone involved! Not much of a hint was it?

Post Thanksgiving---- clean up- and the mad rush begins....
Hmmmm interesting how quickly I forget when thanksgivings blueberry pie overflows into the oven-------

A sure fire way to remind me-- is to put something in and BAKE it---- like DINNER. As smoke belllows from my oven--- i suddenly remember. OOOPPPS.

Hence- there maybe several typo's in tonights post---becasue my fingers are numb. It's currently FREEZING in my house-- because every window and door is wide open---- in an effort to "clear the air".....

The pie was worth it.

Heres the recipe:

Tracey's knock-off William Sonoma Blueberry Pie
preheat oven- 375

3-4 pints blueberries- fresh (depends how much blueberry oooooze you want to clean)
1 fresh lemon
about 1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup flour
pinch of salt
tablespoon butter- diced
1 box pillsbury rolled pie crust
2 Tlb milk
sugar/cinnamon for pie top

line pie plate with bottom crust

wash and sort berries, remove any stems- dump into appropriate sized bowl.
mix berries with 1 1/2 cups sugar
zest of lemon- (carefully remove only the yellow zest- then sliver it and add to berries)
microwave the lemon- for about 30 seconds- cut in half- add strained juice into berries
add 1/4 cup flour
pinch of salt
fold together until mixed

pour into pie plate
top filling with butter pieces
top with second crust
crimp edges with fork
remove excess- re-roll cut with seasonal cookie cutters-

brush top crust with milk then place on cut outs-
sprinkle all with sugar cinnamon.

brush tops of cutouts as well- poke some vents with a knife into top crust

bake for about 55 minutes-

***** don't forget to clean up the mess- or you may have a little reminder-- tomorrow- as well.......

Well at least the alarm didnt go off and send out the firemen......could have been worse.

Have been knitting like a nut--- trying to finish a number of holiday surprises--- also have done a bunch of shopping---- online- DID NOT brave the cranky crowds today.... though I have a pretty good start--- better than usual!

will post pics of FO's tomorrow--- have to finish dinner---

Also--- trying to figure out a creative REVEAL... for SP6......... have a BUNCH of goodies to send as a last pkg (have basically gone way overboard- but I really like to buy presents--- and my spoilee is a very good "RECIEVER"...she makes it fun.

Dear Lord---- let all that I do glorify you- even cleaning up goo from my oven-----and Lord- let my sp6 be blessed with so much more than presents!

Thanksgiving----
Happy Thanksgiving---

What am I thankful for???

My relationship with GOD-

Forgiveness-- (from God and others- caues- well I can be a jerk...)

Family.

My Friends.

My home- and all of God's provision.....

That I can help- and be helped----

That I am free. Because of the sacrifices of others--- first- God's sacrifice--- then the pilgrims- then our countries founders- and our servicemen, past and present.

That my kids are free to question and dig into God--- to find Him for themselves....

And that they are.

The rest is just bonus.

(Dear Lord----as so many gather- I pray that YOU would be the focus- and that you would recieve the praise you are due---- let it be a day to thank and praise you for all you have done--- amen)

Tracey Needs-----revisited--Pitbull adoption available
Today I googled "Tracey Needs" again----- and this time---- Oh my word----

- Tracey is a pitbull who needs to be adopted!!!!! http://arcfriends.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail.php?AnimalID=13045

The description is sweet- and sounds a bit like me---can't we find her a home???

If I didn't already have Bad Girl Sami-----(who this week alone - has eaten Noahs Coat, a longaberger basket, my MOPS Bag and a number of things I choose not to remember----not to mention countless chew toys---) and Noah---- I'd take her in a heartbeat-----

Well- I would, but DH would absolutely REFUSE.

Any blogland takers?

What Tracey Doesn't need- is in the second pic------Don't need it cause it's on its way...... Snagged a great deal on e-bay-----

But- I think I have lost my mind.

Spinning my own yarn???? Apparently- yes---- hmmmm that will probably catch people off guard--don't think of MYSELF as a "SPINNING TYPE"...relax- thats a joke)------ though- gotta admit, I 'm just so curious to try it----- well- this little one- is enroute from New Zealand... (HOPEFuLLYalways a bit risky with e-bay)

pics when she arrives---- ;)

Purple Haze--- In my Brain----Sans drugs-----;)

Finally- ACTUAL knitting content--- a few updates: See pics-

Koigu Broadripple socks- (Koigu giftie from DHwhile on business trip) Finis! Excuse the pudgey ankles----- one still more ppudgey than the other- (more on that later)
Purple experimental mittens- ( Purple Debbie Bliss Soho) Finis. CUTE- Christmad gift potential.

Started- YES - MORE LACE- Alchemy handpaint cashmere n silk blend--- (YUM) yes----- its yet another----FALLING LEAVES- from:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/102-2683229-3280930

(2 skeins of this gorgeous- stuff- should knit up quick---- and if your hubby buys you YARN---- YOU KNIT IT)

So I'll get to CHristmas things- and Kiri or Birch--- and finishing Clapotis- after this one-----

Well---- and tonight- I'll be casting on with my Lorna's Goldhill (thnx again sp6) may make yet another pair of broadripples---- though--- not sure bout that--- will let you know tomorrow-

Other news- NOT so happy- ankle healing has apparently "plateaued" had to go back to dr- I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon Monday afternoon- YUK. I can walk fine- but it still swells- with a full days activity- and even gets a bit black-n blue---- also- still pretty bad pain if I make a "bad move"--- still can't wear normal shoes- ( i pretty much- typically wear heals-mules etc every day)- am STILL wearing the same 2 pair of stupid tennis shoes- starting to crave pretty shoes---- HIGH HEELED pretty shoes........like these:
http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod21890023&parentId=cat000211&masterId=cat000209&index=7&cmCat=
Or these--
http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod21860014&parentId=cat000211&masterId=cat000209&index=2&cmCat=

WOULD NEVER BUY Them---- $$$$ even if i could! But, shoe withdrawl calls for desperate shoe viewing. The ethics of $700 shoes can be discussed at a later date. But that little guy sums up my opinion of it.

Non knitting Projects:

Creating a 3 week Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Curriculum- to coincide with the release of the movie http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/narnia/ or the AWESOME kids @ www.metrosouthchurch.com. We're all about families- and will be scheduling a special movie nt---- to help the kids- get the FULL experience-- so awesome to have GOOD entertainment that's appropriate for a change---want to definately make the most of this opportunity!

(This is all in hope that DIsney MAKES NARNIA REAL......... oh let this one ROCK!)

Lots to do on this one---- looking for creative- non dork inspired activities- with a goal of the children EXPERIENCING a bit of Narnia. And learning the spiritual parable behind the books----doing a lot of research- ordering PR materials- etc----

December 1- I'm holding a MOPS International Council "Network n Nosh"-(www.mops.org) --- an opportunity for leaders- to grow- and network----am working on a short talk for that-

Also did a leadership training last nt- went well-@ Velocity-

Speaking At a MOPS Group in Chelsea MI--- In Dec...... working on that talk-

And I am excited about a talk in January on Friendship-------

ALL that- and the holidays- too- AND DH haas booked an awesome trip-----

Hmmmmmm schedules a little heavyyyyy gonna have to make time to knit.

But- even more so- I'm gonna have to pray- Bill Hybels- wrote a book years ago- that impacted my priorities- titled- "Too Busy NOT To Pray"-- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0830819711/102-2683229-3280930?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance I have found it to be soooo true! -

The busier I am---I find that when I prioritize prayer----- somehow-God makes more of my creativity, my energy and my time---- which is good- cause I don't have much of any of those on my own!

Dear Lord- with all that I am--- and all that I do---I want to serve and honor you---- expand my creativity- mulitply my time-----bless the work of my hands--- Lord- help me to FOCUS on you---- and FOCUS on your will- prioritizing that over anything else.

Sayako- Japanese Princess- Rejects throne for love. Why do I care?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4437386.stm

Sayako- No longer a princess- yet she has so much grace. And, at least at the moment- so much acclaim. The world loves her all the more- the press is speaking of her in other-worldly terms--- and with high regard. A rare event.

There are sweet tales of her "practicing shopping in the grocery store-- learning to drive"---etc--- and- (recognizing the tide of media turns fast) at this point- is seems to be simply a matter of fact- not a personal rejection- the article linked above says The Emperor says the "ties will not change". He hasn't rejected his daughter- but has followed thru with the cutural law. ( Which- in my opinion is sad--- however- still honorable- and integrous)

I googled "Sayako"- to already find over 140,000 hits. What intrigues us so much? Why do we care?

Granted- the story--- is romantic- an kind of Cinderella (or Princess Diana) --in reverse. It's also incrediblly loving----with a love that is sacrificial. Don't we all, somewhere in our hearts- really want to be loved by someone so much - that they would reject everything a throne has to offer, simply to be with us???

My question is this---is it purely romanticism/voyeurism that is driving the intrigue?

I doubt it.

Scientists show we frequently crave what we need- minerals----etc--- in extreme cases of neglect- our bodies will even drive us to eat strange things to accommodate - or replicate a needed nutrient-----(http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/nutrition/cravings.htm)

Is it just possible we are also "wired " to crave other things we need?

Like sacrificial love?

I absolutley can't halp but see a parallel between Sayako's story- and and ancient one-

Jesus'.

Jesus left heaven- left the privilege and splendor of the throne---chose to do so- so He could BE with us- for eternity. Because of His great love- and, truthfully- because of our great need.

Sacrificially. He left of His own accord----chose to be robed in flesh, to die on a cross- yet- Jesus' story-as a culture- we frequently pass by-----even try to de-bunk----discredit and reject.

The truth is- the parallel runs deep---- the Princess ACCEPTED the proposal of her "Commoner" which led to her acceptance of the consequence----she is now - Sayako---- no longer Princess of Japan.

Years ago--- I heard of- and researched the Proposal of Jesus....and I accepted it-- important to me--- because of that- I have a new identity- one that God knows intimately- and reveals slowly---however---- in my relationship with God---- I don't lose royal status- I gain it. (pretty good for a girl who grew up wanting to be "Dr Princess Barbie") Some would see my early desire- as a child's fantasy- or maybe view my relationship now- as a crutch.

Here's the my response: - I am broken---I am a sinner- I need a crutch---- not one that is pretend--- but one that supports and Jesus does- without fail.

I'd encourage you to read Sayako's story--- and to be reminded of Jesus's and to investigate--for yourself- (www. biblegateway.com - search for the book of John read all of it!) -- then evaluate---why are YOU intrigued? Could it be a craving- for something you need? Sayako accepted the proposal--- Jesus- agreed to God's plan- He felt rejection-left heaven- yet chose connection-union with US- out of love.

The proposal has already been made- to me- and to you- What will you do?

10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent,[c] nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

Pirates and Pilots... learning to lead----
Follow the leader. A simple game. Those who want to play- simply follow the one who leads- where ever they go---- everyone enjoying the process as you go..... on the play ground that is about the extent of it.
In life- it's not that simple.

Recent news events included an ACTUAL Pirate attack on a Cruise ship. Unbelievable. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/africa/11/05/somalia.pirates/ It challenged me to think a bout Pirates for a bit. Maybe it's ot all "Back Yardigans and Wiggles" when it comes to Pirates--- maybe there are STILL pirates? Maybe I'm one. Pirates are leaders. Are all leaders Pirates? NO.

Some Leaders are Pilots--- they also have crews--- and a mission.....but- with a pparently,a different approach.

I have experienced a number of different leadership styles and approaches. Honestly- I have practiced a number of different leadership techniques. I've made mistakes- and learned alot.

I've been a Pirate and a Pilot.

OK..... Pirate is stretching it--I've not been involved in robbing ships on the high seas.......-- and I've never flown a plane---- but allow me some space here-----

Pirates seem to have some interesting traits------
1) They are leaders-
2) They are unethical- i.e. they rob/kill people.
3) They rule by fear intimidation and threat of the "PLANK".
Admittedly- my "Pirating Experience" is not built on reliable sources---- it is purely media based Pirates of Penzance, Sinbad, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Carribean...oh- and honestly-----the Wiggles.

A Pirate Captain---- tells his "mates" about a treasure-----they want a part...so, pretty much will do whatever he says to get it. He inspires them. Granted- it's usually with greed- but they are inspired.

Over time-----"mates" who don't go with the program are forced to walk the plank....going with the program----is most often defined as --- doin what the cap'n says the way he says it. Sometimes for very good- important reasons---- sometimes for very "Not". Weakness is not tolerated----loyalty is supreme, mandated as well as tested.

When I look at the volcanic microchasm a pirate's ship must be......I can see why this approach may have been necessary- to--- carry the goods......but why is this approach so tempting for leaders??? For me????

I can't answer for others---- but in my experience-----when I am faced with a desire to "Pirate" it usually comes from a desire to "see" my passionate idea come to fruition. Whether a fundraising project......or a ministry project, a home project or parenting or business..... I've felt and faced, won and lost to this temptation...sometimes--- when a mate has been "Scurvy" (a vitamin deficiency-resulting in bone weakness) rather than help him along--- I've felt tempted to hold a plank walking. See link to Backyardigans: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Backyardigans) I've pirated. I'm sad to say. It's just felt easier to get rid of the trouble makers than to learn from them--- or help them grow.

Now- I'm not guilty of murder----or actually forcing a "plank parade"....but I have been guilty of feeling like questions were mutiny and like "mates" should just do as their told. I'm the captain afterall.

Pirates can be effective- they can rally a crew- and uncover the treasure....but is that what I want as a family? For my kids to fear me- and so obey? (Well- truthfully- sometimes,YES.)

Is it what I want to be in Christian leadership? Well---- here is what I believe- the model I have for leading --- is Jesus. So--- the question is------ was Jesus a pirate?

I don't think so. Was Jesus confrontational? Yes. But,how did he treat His mates? How did he respond to traitors?

(www.biblegateway.com) search- enter the verses--- and read the chapters......

John 8:4-11 (New International Version)- Jesus confronts woman in adultery- as "scurvy" as anyone...
Matthew 26:36- Gethsemane- the disciples fail Jesus- can't even stay awake as He struggles in prayer.
Matthew 26:14-30 Jesus and Judas- Judas remains- Jesus serves a traitor. The only plank Judas walked was one of his own accord.
Matthew 26:31-33 Jesus predicts Peter's denial....yet loves him.

Jesus was no Pirate.

Neither should I be.

But.....I'm not Jesus--- I'm a mess- I have an agenda--I'm not perfect.....My motives if I'm truthful---- are always MIXED....there is the altruistic----in my heart- the desire to serve God and grow others---but it's a mixed bag- mixed with- the self serving-----the desire to "be impressive" "have it together" "look good" "accomplish goals- SUCCEED" ........Do It Right. Perfect.

When I look at Jesus's model of leading----- I see how different He is from Pirates----and a converse parallel develops.

In my perception---- Jesus was so much more a PILOT than a Pirate.

Pilots----well- they know where they are going---they fly the plane......hold the controls---- but they don't navigate..... they don't serve the drinks---- or bark orders on HOW to serve the drinks from the cabin..(well- I haven't SEEN them do that...).they respectfully fly the plane- and let the "crew" do their jobs----each one serving in their own capacity. The truth is---- if the captain tried navigating--- or serving drinks--- or doing the safety demo---- or heaven forbid--- in the circumstance of an accident- left the cockpit to instruct the passengers----- the plane would surely crash- (ok----- i understand auto-pilot------but- planes do not actually fly themselves yet.)

Here is what I most find interesting about Jesus Leadership style.......I challenge you to read this whole chapter-

http://biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=10&version=31

It is Jesus' directions to the 12 Disciples- He clearly flies the plane here- Tells them what to focus on---- but- then sends them out to do it. And I don't see Him scripting---micro-managing or "Pirating"....
Matthew 10
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve 1He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil[a] spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[b]drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.

Jesus gives the Disciples clear direction- on their goals and priorities---- but when I look at the verbage--- there isn't a lot of detailed "HOWS".....I can't help but wonder why.
Maybe, Hesimply trusted that the Disciples had been EXPERIENCING the Hows.... (watching Jesus' modeling) and so they KNEW the hows....no need to expand.
Maybe there were HOURS and HOURS of meetings and trainings where Jesus told them the Hows "Off book"--- they just aren't included in the Bible. Possible.
In my opinion---- it's more than either of these possible answers.
There also seems to be a lot of flexibility here- He told them "What"---but seems to have left the "How" up to the Disciples.
I believe it was intentional.
I believe Jesus thoroughly understood the needs in each place that the Disciples would go would be different- and that they would require different styles- different approaches----all with a common message- but each with a unique expression. Why?
Because The New Testament and the Old Testament are both loaded with God's perspective an plan for individuals...not to be forced into a mold---- but each to be grown into a unique servant--- with unique skills to fit unique need:
Valued- needed parts of a whole.

1 Corinthians 12
Spiritual Gifts 1Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31But eagerly desire[e] the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.

John 1:1 clearly states that Jesus is God. If Jesus IS God- then- Jesus had the full knowledge of God's purpose and plans-for the Body. My assumption then- is Jesus incorporated this--- into His sending out of the Disciples.
John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.
Jesus, gave the Disciples their directives--- and allowed them to work in their unique way within that framework. Because He valued understood the Body's need. For each part.
Jesus Piloted---- He flew the plane- while others did their parts----Jesus did what it took- He died on the cross- suffered and loved modeled and confronted----for the Disciples- and each of us--- to BECOME what we need to become..in order to DO what we need to DO.

Today--- we are Jesus' Disciples, we still have the same directive. To some degree- we'll each do it uniquely----and do different portions of the work. My challenge to you---- is regardless of where you lead---

Will you be a Pirate? Or a Pilot? I want my Pirating days to be over.

"Dear Lord- I pray--- that you help me to see my "Pirating"---- help me as a leader- not to make my scurvy messy crew walk any planks----because I am a scurvy messy capn----yet you let, and call me to lead...Help me to be a Pilot---- serving my crew- by doing my job- and creating a safe atmosphere for them to be fully equipped in doing theirs....each one to the Glory of Christ" Thank you Lord---- I still don't know WHY you allow and entrust me with this awesome privilege---but I ask you to be with me Pilot Me Lord- change and grow me.Amen"

I took a quiz- I flunked. According to the assigned value---- i'm a loser...NOT.
My blog is worth $0.00.How much is your blog worth?

Interesting.
http://www.business-opportunities.biz/projects/how-much-is-your-blog-worth/

Geez, nothing like making public my total LACK of value. Most online quizzes are at least fun- or something..... this one, was just interesting. Not the quiz. The response. I gotta be honest- for a moment- (maybe longer) I felt like a total loser. You type in your URL..... theres a dramatic pause- then----------

LOSER. (loser was my summation) you're worth......$0.00.

Who decided? Whats the criteria? Some computer program....based on links to your site---- thats how value is determined??? HOw bout authenticity? How about CONTENT???? Actually, ticked me off a bit. I mean- who are THEY...to say I (hmmmm, I am my blog? Told you I have issues...) have no value....???

What's interesting about it? I think we do this in "real life" all the time-----somebody somewhere- bosed on some lame cirteria that they predetermined---- decides you're worth $0.00. They communicate it- you internalize it.....and BAM. You wear the loser badge. You feel like a loser- you act like a loser---- you treat yourself like a loser....you let others treat you like a loser.

Maybe, it was parents who couldn't understand your value----or theirs. Maybe, it was a boss--- a friend, a spouse.....a group- or all of the above.....some how the way we determine our value ---- is in others opinions, pretty much without regard for their credibility, or their criteria.

Maybe, it's because we live in a "Market driven economy" where value is determined by the price the consumer is willing to pay......the "value add" We "stack rank" individuals based on what they add to a team.....performance. Thats a huge criteria.....well- i'm sick of it.

Newsflash- I'm good- but I'll never be good enough..... there is always someone prettier- smarter, more talented ----more loving...with more cash in the bank- with a better credit rating -more ---
The bottom line- there is always someone More Valuable.

There are a lot of" maybe's" when it comes to how we arrived here- at a place where we can type in our URL and recieve an online assessment of our value. And ,even for a moment- believe it. Then- instantaneously -feel either puffed up by it---- or crushed by it.

The Maybe's and the Hows' don't much matter. What matters is the truth. The truth is what's REAL. I choose the truth over opinion.
I am choosing God's credible opinion on my value over any computer program--- or opinion.

The truth is this:

1) God created me----- the bible says----- He knew me before I was born.... and he "Knit me together in my mothers womb........" (thats for my knittin sistahs.And- yes it's really in the Bible...)..)

2) God has a plan for my life- "I know the plans I have for you- plans to prosper and not to harm you- plans for a future and hope" Jeremiah 29:11.

3) God doesn't expect me to be "Good enough" or "The best"---- "He knows that we are dust....."

4) God values me. Right where I am---- fat, cranky, lazy, mean, sassy ,happy, confused- sinner that I am.........(John 3:16) yes- go ahead-picture the lame rainbow wig.....not the best representation- but true nonetheless)

How do I KNOW that He values me? Cause he paid the highest price. Jesus Christ died on the cross- left heaven- bore flesh---- bore beating- injustice, betrayal and death. For me- so I could experience His grace- His forgiveness---that makes God see me as "Good enough".....because I am valuable and loved by Him.

That trumps any lame online quiz for me-----

Heres the best part- It's like the title of my blog---- "it's not all about me--- it's about Him......." The value God assigns to me- it's not about me.....He has already assigned the same to you...regardless of who- what or how you are....... it's not something thats just for me- but for all .

I'm no theologian..... I don't have all the answers---- and don't expect anyone to just take my thoughts at face value- but I challenge you- to search out the truth----- about your value.

www.biblegateway.com- is a good free obline source for searching the Bible...TYPE IN THE PHRASES IN THE SEARCH BAR--- find out for yourself- what God says.

www.metrosouthchurch.com- is my "church" btw---- the numbers are in for trunk or treat- we had over 2500!!!!!! people!!!!!!WOW. (see previous post)

www.mops.org is a great place for encouragment for Mothers of Preschoolers.

Lord- please help me to always remember the value that YOU'VE assigned to me---thru Jesus- and help me to act like I'm valued--- not a loser. Please also help me to remember the value of others- and help me to treat them like the treasures that they are----my friends my family and those I meet....regardless of online surveys and quizzes! I love you, Lord.

hmmmm just interesting......now back to work!!!!..
Google “[your name] needs” and see what comes up. Tracey needs to grow up and admit the problem isn't Mooney. (ouch ---or anyone else- usually its me)Tracey needs to (respectfully) stop being self-righteously wrong, become humble and do some research. (ouch - probably true)Tracey needs someone to have her back. (who doesn't?)Tracey needs to come up with an interesting costume. (Check pics)Tracey needs a hot hand to take the zone off. ??????????no clueTracey needs your Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Hard-Fi, Maximo Park, Editors and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah records. (huh?)Tracey needs to be on her own. (I Vant to be alone---- well- once in a while!)Tracey needs to know faith and prayer saved that girls life. (NOT A DOUBT)Tracey needs 18 N effort at the handle to lift 6 kg. (again- clueless)Tracey needs to be played as more petulant and dissatisfied. (disagree- I tend to overplay that)

A Halloween Visit to Narnia......WAY picture heavy
Our church- www.metrosouthchurch.com - held a "Trunk or Treat" event in FLatrock- that was a HUGE success- over 1000 kids!!!!! Trunk or Treat is an event where hosts- decorate their "Trunks" with decs- costumes- etc--- then children trick or treat in a confined, safe atmosphere---- a high school parking lot in our case!

There was also a couple of blow up--- "bouncers" pics, and games and treats for everyone- here was no cost- to attending kids- it was our gift to the community. We had a blast--- My family chose "Narnia" http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/narnia/ as our theme--- Noah- the little one- was Peter- DH was Aslan, and of course- I was "the White Witch"... prob just an opportunity to be blonde..... there are also pics of halloween at home---- more of a traditional night---- little guy in the wagon--- big guys- take off to glean maximum free candy in minimum effort---- all in all a great night!

You can also see my weekends knitting progress---- Tempting is no longer dismembered- she has sleeves!!!!

My new spindles arrived- and I feel like I'm living in Rumplestiltskin... spinning straw- albeit pretty straw...into YARN!!!! Golding spindles---- http://www.dropspindle.info/dropspindles.html In keeping with the theme--- their spindles are magical! Well - so is the pencil roving I was given by Gary at
Frankenmuth Mill.......is that cheating? Maybe- but tAKE A PEEK HOW SMOOTH IT IS........and EVEN....

There are also sugar crash pics of the bad dog Sami-- and sweet dirty boy Noah...... their pretty exhaused from their eating binge0 though Sami didn't have much candy--- she has much more expensive taste--- apparently one thing the Beagle books don't tell you- is about their propensity toward eating Longaberger baskets--- there are three baskets demolished. see why she bad dog Sami??? Good thing shes sweet.

I suppose this is all evidence of fear redeemed--- traded in for accomplishment!
more later-

Dear Lord- I thank you for each little one who came to trunk or treat- and for all those who helped----it was a great event- I pray that you grow the seeds that were planted there---- I also thank you for helping me overcome my fears--- small and large----both those posted here- and those posted in prayer in my heart.
